The WILLOW (Salix alba) contains, in the bark of the young branches, the salicin, which is a glucoside and which, through the enzymatic action of emulsin, acids, etc., is divided into glucose and saligenin. HORSETAIL  (Equisetum arvense) contains silicon in the form of silica  (SiO2)   which intervenes in the development of connective tissue by participating in the formation of bonds between proteins and mucopolysaccharides thus contributing to the integrity of articular  cartilageand the walls of the arteries, therefore indicated in arteriosclerosis, in osteoarthritis and delays of healing. The plant contains about eight percent of equisetonin which facilitates the absorption of the active ingredients and appears to be a stimulant of the adrenal activity and of the biochemical processes of the utilization of the silicates. The plant also contains flavonoids (isoquercitrin and kaemferol) which have a strong action diuretic. All this gives the plant a use in inflammatory states, in hypodiuresis, in connective  tissue pathologiesand mineral deficiencies. In the NETTLE  (Urtica dioica) recent studies have shown the presence in it of glycolic acid, glycerol, sodium, potassium and magnesium salts that would have a diuretic action that favors the elimination of chlorides and urea, thus increasing urinary purification and the elimination of waste in the blood. For this reason, nettle would be indicated in arthritis and articular and muscular rheumatism. The IRON spagyric restores the intestinal assimilation of iron ingested with normal nutrition, as the principle contained in Salix alba tries to inhibit this operation. Iron is a widespread element in the natural world; occupies a prominent place in the vital process and among the various biological activities, associated with some protein groups, iron, in addition to hemoglobin which transports oxygen from the lungs to the tissues, it forms myoglobin, which stores oxygen in the muscles, cytochromes, which ensure cellular respiration and catalysis, which participates in the defense against microbes and in the degradation of harmful peroxides.
