Ripe juniper berries harvested in autumn contain an essential oil, contained in the QSA, consisting of a mixture of terpenic substances including some soluble diterpenes such as thujopsene, terpinen-4-ol and beta-cadinene which are stimulants of the epithelium of the renal glomerulus and lead to a minor reabsorption of water in transit in the glomeruli themselves, increasing its elimination. Thus there is a volumetric diuretic action with drainage of chlorides and urea. During the renal passage and in the elimination phase through the urinary tract, the same terpenes also show an antiseptic activity against many pathogenic microorganisms. QSA MELISSA contains an essential oil rich in citral, linalool, geraniol and lemongrass, which have a sedative and antispasmodic action. It is the most representative plant of the Venus archetype.
