Pathology:
Prophylaxis of headache syndromes, cluster headaches and vasomotors.
Notes:
The TANACETUM PARTHENIUM it has always been known for its febrifuge properties, but already from the seventeenth century J. Parkinson began to recognize it also a good effectiveness with regard to cephalalgic syndromes. We have Dr. E. Stewart Johnson to thank if we end up years old ’70, a first clinical trial of this remedy was carried out at the “City of London Migraine Clinic”; experimentation from which the first encouraging results were obtained which then gave inspiration and impetus to the desire to undertake other double-blind investigations with good results. One of these trials (results published in the Lancet medical journal), was carried out in double-blind on 72 patients: the researchers administered Tanacetum parthenium powder to patients for a period of four months. At the end, it was concluded that the plant was can control the frequency, intensity and duration of migraine attacks. Parthenolide , sesquiterpene lactone contained in Tanacetum parthenium, reduces, in vitro, the secretory activity of platelets, inhibiting them from releasing serotonin. This could be the mechanism of action put in place by Tanacetum parthenium to reduce migraine attacks; in fact, studies have found abnormal platelet behavior during a migraine attack: platelets release serotonin. Hence the usefulness of serotonin antagonists for the prevention of migraine. In other bibliographies on migraine, where the use of Tanacetum parthenium has been highlighted, its use of Tanacetum parthenium undoubtedly emerges. antispasmodic properties on smooth muscles which would also determine a mild tranquilizing effect. The plant is also used in dysmenorrhea and as an emmenagogue, i.e. able to facilitate the normal functions of the uterus during menstruation, thus promoting its relaxation. ALNUS GLUTINOSA contains Alnulin, Emodin, tannins, mineral salts , tannic acid. The black alder, this is its common name, was greatly esteemed in folk medicine of the past: its therapeutic use dates back to the medieval period. In the eighteenth century some researchers considered it useful as a febrifuge, pain reliever and anti-inflammatory. Its buds have a strong organotropism for the arterial vascular system. Its therapeutic action is directed above all to the walls of the arterial vessels of the brain (encephalic arteries), where it determines an anti-inflammatory effect. The RIBES NIGRUM, in buds , contains high concentrations of heteroxides, phenolic derivatives, Vitamin C and amino acids (especially arginine, proline and alanine). The same gems can be useful, and bring benefit, in kidney disorders, obesity, dyspepsia and headache. Thanks to its cortisone-like properties, Ribes nigrum has become one of the most important meristematic therapy remedies; it is a great systemic anti-inflammatory and fights inflammation both from an etiological point of view and from a purely mechanical, chemical, immunological or infectious point of view. The CANINE ROSE contains Vitamin C, pectins, tannins, organic acids, carotenoids (rubixanthin, lycopine and β-carotene), traces of anthocyanins and flavonoids. It has astringent, vitaminizing, tonic, diuretic properties. Rosa canina (young shoots) is the remedy for relapsing inflammation, it has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties; promotes the neutralization of the amino acid tyramine, the release of which is involved in vasomotor headaches and in many cases of migraine. Because of this property, it is useful in the treatment of migraines and headaches resistant to most of the classic therapies. The TILIA TOMENTOSA (buds) exerts an anxiolytic, anti-spasmodic and general sedation action; It is the vegetable tranquilizer par excellence. It has a sedative, choleretic, vasodilator and antispasmodic action by acting simultaneously on the sleep center and on the cortical-hypothalamic axis with a consequent calming effect.
