Notes:

The TRIMETHYLGLYCINE (Anhydrous Betaine or TMG) is obtained from sugar beets, it intervenes in transmethylation, i.e. in the process by which the methyl groups (CH3) are transferred from one molecule to another; a biochemical process essential for cellular metabolism. Alongside methionine and choline, it thus supplies methyl groups to the cell. It is believed that the introduction of this food supplement into the diet can help the recovery processes in degenerative diseases. Fundamentally Trimethylglycine is a methylating agent that plays an important role especially in the detoxification process of homocysteine (powerful oxidant and free radical generator) in Methionine. In fact, the living organism metabolizes only small quantities of homocysteine and it is known that in large quantities it is toxic: it can therefore be said that homocysteine is an excellent biochemical indicator of the efficiency of methylation by cells. Methionine (homocysteine methylation product) produces high concentrations of SAM (S-adenosyl-Methionine), a natural antidepressant and methyl group donor; the increase of SAM is useful both in the prevention and in the treatment of various metabolic disorders including those caused by severe states of organic deficiency, such as in the neoplastic patient. It is one of the essential amino acids with antioxidant activity. It is very important for the functioning of the liver where it prevents abnormal accumulation of fat and the production of antibodies. It can be converted to cystine in the presence of VITAMIN B12. In combination with inositol and B vitamins It helps the suffering liver. Participates in the formation of carnitine, choline, creatine, adrenaline, etc. and interacts with other substances to detoxify harmful compounds, is included in supplementation as an anti-fatigue agentIf adequate amounts  are administeredof VITAMIN B6much of the homocysteine produced is converted into cystathione, an important natural antioxidant. Half of the homocysteine normally produced by the body is detoxified in this way; the other half is detoxified through a further process (transmethylation): 5-methyl-tetra-hydrofolate, produced from folic acid, transfers its methyl group to homocysteine, converting it into methionine. Cell nucleus DNA loses methyl groups as a result of normal cellular aging. Each molecule of Trimethylglycine donates three methyl groups to DNA and this helps the process of remethylation, basically the repair of DNA moleculesIn general it can be said that this repair action helps cells to slow down the aging processTrimethylglycine reduces the levels of homocysteine in the blood, a molecule that can cause atherosclerosis, thrombosis, and other damage to the body [La Trimetilglicina converte l’omocisteina in metionina e S-adenosilmetionina (SAME)]. Homocysteine is a sulfur amino acid, intermediate in the transformation of methionine to cysteine. The conversion of homocysteine to methionine (remethylation process) or its conversion to cysteine (transsulfuration) represent the main metabolic pathways capable of maintaining intracellular levels within a narrow range. Its controlled release into the bloodstream, on the other hand, makes it possible to measure its plasma concentrations, which represent an accurate index of the state of tissue homocysteine. Numerous epidemiological surveys have highlighted a correlation between the incidence of clinical events of vascular origin and serum homocysteine levels (venous thrombosis and embolic manifestations, higher incidence of atherosclerotic disease): in general it can be said that elevated plasma homocysteine levels are considered an independent risk factor for vascular disease. Elevated serum levels of homocysteine may depend on various factors, both congenital (enzyme deficiency) and acquired. Hyperhomocysteinemia is in many cases correctable with appropriate therapy. The ACEROLA and the ROSA DI MACCHIA provide Vitamin C and therefore have an antioxidant effect.
